An Effect of Fruit Coating Wax (TAG) on the Preservation of " Golden Delicious " , " Starking Delicious " , and " Fuji " apple (Malus pumila . Miller) During Prolonged Storage

Abstract

|
TAG, fruit coating wax, when applied to $quot;Golden Delicious$quot;, $quot;Starking Delicious$quot;, and $quot;Fuji$quot; apples, was effective in keeping fruit freshness. In $quot;Golden Delicious$quot;, and $quot;Starking Delicious$quot;, the effect of TAG on the control of loss in fruit weight was especially evident at room temperature storage.
Total soluble and reducing sugars, and dry weight were not altered by TAG treatment after prolonged storage; however, the content of total acid was higher in fruit, and the per cent of decayed fruit was reduced by the TAG coating.
